A Night Out At The Movies, Leafs Lose Game 3

Apr 24, 2024

Well, that sucked. Leafs lose 4-2 to the Boston Bruins and the B’s take a 2-1 series lead.

The first period had little action as both teams looked to break through first, but as the first period drew to a close, Ryan Reaves drills Bostons Pavel Zacha, not once but twice. We go into the first intermission all knotted up at 0-0.

The second period was looking better, the Leafs came out with a sense of purpose and trying to get Scotiabank Arena loud and it wasn’t until 6:50 left in the second feed with Mitch Marner, fed Matthew Knies a beautiful sauce pass and the puck goes past Jeremey Swayman and we’ve got a 1-0 Leafs lead.

The second period I was saying escape with the lead, don’t give Boston breathing room and as Brad Marchand and Tyler Bertuzzi were getting into it, Trent Frederic got the puck and snipped one home to make it a 1-1 game. The refs did swallow there whistles here but the Leafs have to be better than 0-5 on the powerplay and maybe not allow Boston to go 5-10 on there power plays as they have throughout the first three games of the series.

The third period had the Leafs and Bruins on a 4 on 4 but as Boston’s penalty expired and they went on the power play, game 1 “hero” Jake DeBrusk found an opening early into the third period and puts one home behind Samsonov, 2-1 B’s lead.

The Maple Leafs did tie the game at 2-2 because of Tyler Bertuzzi but 18 seconds later Bruins rat, I mean captain Brad Marchand finds the pefect hole and snipped one past Sammy and a tie game, silents the already silent crowd at Scotiabank.

The game ended with Brad Marchand getting an empty net goal while the other captain John Tavares sat in the penalty box and the Bruins take game 3 by a score of 4-2.

The crowd for a large portion sounded like a regular Tuesday night November regular season game when it’s the playoffs, that coupled with a loss sent Joe Bowen to tweet this.

Hi, my name is Griff and I'm a complete sports nut. I love to play sports, watch sports and most importantly bet on sports too. If I'm not watching or betting on sports, you can find me on the golf course, between the pipes as your average beer league goaltender. Although sports take up most of my life, I also love spending time with my two dogs, streaming usually a 90's Simpson's or attempting to read more books.
