Why Waste Our Time With Eric Staal and James Riemer When We Should Be Celebrating The Other 99.9%?

Mar 27, 2023

Isn’t just knowing we can completely disregard the validity of anything The Stalls, Riemers, and Religiously ignorant people think or say enough? Do we need to force them to change their hateful/exclusive ideology, taking away from those who make a difference?

Do we have to hate them back? They want you to persecute them for it. They want you to be violent ANTIFA backpack-wearing cyberbullying heathens worthy of help.

It’s weird. They’re so fucked that way. So stop being all bitchy every time someone says they disapprove of what you do with whoever you love. That’s as important as telling us telling them we dislike what they had for breakfast. It’s pointless.

You’d probably get a similar number if you compared Mark and Eric Stall’s IQ with James Reimer’s. So, take that for what it’s worth.

But holy shit, people. You’ve spent five days talking about three guys while 700 other guys, 29 teams, and an entire league are all in.

My son uses a rainbow shopping bag for groceries. He also wears an inclusive pin on one of his coats. He said he does it so people at his school feel comfortable with him regardless of who they are.   I’m more proud of his stance on Inclusiveness and acceptance in the alt community because he fits there on a social scale. His friend group is probably 50/50 alt lifestyle and loves that people love each other. He’s straight, but his values reflect what he was taught and why he is. My sons have LGTBQ+ friends in their friend groups and talk about it so fluidly that it sometimes stands out as unfamiliar. I’m 50, so I grew up in a very different time where the tax wasn’t paid on joking and negative stereotyping. So I hear things differently than they do. But those lads are the benefit of 23 years of ensuring your kids know A) there’s no more excellent value than human values and B) them being more intelligent than me. When I grew up in the ’70s and ’80s, alt lifestyles were jokes and footnotes. Gay marriage was illegal, FFS.

We’ve come a long way, which should be celebrated and amplified. The overwhelming support of our inclusive outlook is INCREDIBLE to people of my vintage.

99.8 percent of players support an inclusive NHL and wear those jerseys and tape those sticks proudly. That’s incredible. We should all be proud and grateful for that too. Ignore the dickheads. Don’t feed the hate machine.

What matters is we live in an overwhelmingly inclusive society, and we can stop trying to assassinate the lives and careers of people who aren’t smart enough to get it. Feel sorry for them.

I do.

I think about what it must be like to be so common sense ignorant of someone who protests something that has nothing to do with them. Something positive. It’s bad engineering.

A few Russians MAY have legit concerns, but “fuck those guys” and focus on the positive. Like my man Connor McDavid who put those other gay haters in a body bag today:

Inclusiveness will never have 100% buy-in. Thinking the opposite means you have unrealistic expectations. Narrowing your focus on bad actors makes you like them. Celebrating those actively part of the solution is far more potent than canceling and badgering the losers who think Jesus hates gay people. On its face, that’s exclusive, and we’re back to square one.

Dickheads will always exist but should exist in a silo. Let’s put them there by ignoring them. Let’s amplify those who actively make EVERYONE feel welcome everywhere.
