Blue Jays Take a Stand: Anthony Bass Demoted To The Minor Leagues Following His Controversial Remarks

Jun 9, 2023

On Friday afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays took the decision to demote pitcher Anthony Bass from the team’s roster. This move came shortly after Bass shared a video that expressed views opposing the LGBTQ2S+ community. The roster change occurred the day after Bass affirmed his commitment to his “personal beliefs,” despite having apologized a little over a week earlier for sharing an Instagram story that encouraged followers to boycott Target and Bud Light due to their support for the LGBTQ2S+ community.

In a release on Friday, the Blue Jays announced the reinstatement of starting pitcher RHP Mitch White, who had been sidelined with a right elbow injury.

Bass was scheduled to catch the ceremonial first pitch at Jays’ Pride Night on Friday. The team has not announced if that will still take place.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Anthony.
