More Beaver For Your Bowl!

Jan 31, 2023

Because Democracy… Is Something You Do!

Well, good day and hel-looooo, Kits!

I hope that all of yours’ 2023s have gotten off to a kickass start.

As the first month of the year comes to a close, I’ve been a rather busy Beaver and Mr. Grizzly has most definitely not be hibernating.

If you watch our video content via our True North Eager Beaver Media YouTube page, you may have noticed that we’ve updated our pre-show bumper.

We are working on new merch for you.

We are making new friends and appearing on other shows.

We have some neat interviews lined up (if we can ever find time to record them).

We’ve even been able to get back to putting out an audio-exclusive episode under our flagship format, and this while hosting our fourth live PubCast event.

But the best news of all is that the dream of making The Not Quite Daily Beaver Morning Show a daily thing is coming true!!

We’re soft-launching the format this week (to get the bugs out), but starting officially on Monday, February 6th, we will become The Daily Beaver Morning Show, typically with longer format Beaver Bites episodes on Mondays and Fridays, our usual Wednesday Just a Nibble episode, and (sometimes pre-recorded) “Morsels” (often focused one just one or two topics) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our first (soft-launch) Daily Beaver Morning Show episode was our Monday Morning Beaver Bite.

Over the course of the episode we talk about:
– the womp-womp-ish first anniversary of Loudmouthapalooza;
– the importance of skilled trades;
– the Chaos Party of Canada’s Scott Aitchison becoming a disappointment;
– the start of The Arctic Winter Games;
– the Prime Minister in Québec City for the National Day of Remembrance and Action Against Islamophobia (and a notable absence);
– the passing of former Mayor of Mississauga, Hazel McCallion;
– the upcoming pilot project to decriminalize possession of small amounts of drugs in British Columbia;
– the death of Viola Léger (aka La Sagouine), a great loss for French Canadian, and particularly Acadian, culture;
– a potentially delayed next COVID booster, and;
– we have our popular Canadians Who Make Us Proud segment.

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy the changes and join us as often as you can, because we love your company and cherish the gift of your attention.

Be kind to, and gentle with, yourself,
Your Eager Beaver

Douglas Connors

The Eager Beaver (pronouns He / Him / Hey Mr. Beaver, eh?, aka Douglas Connors) is the founder, creator, and writer of The True North Eager Beaver blog page on Facebook. After 10 years of writing, he ventured into a podcast version of the blog in late April 2021. A political communications strategist by training (and political junkie by passion), Douglas seeks to promote both media and political literacy, while making politics accessible to everyone. In addition to blogging and podcasting, Douglas has dabbled in translation and event planning, is an accomplished entertainer having appeared in plays (My Three Angels; Cranz & Bernardo; And Then There Were None), musicals (Matilda, Naked Boys Singing, Chicago, Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert), and voice work (The Sound Castle; The Revolution has Failed; The Makers and Shakers Society). He is set to direct his first play, R.E.D., in the summer of 2022. Finally, he's an avid curler, a diehard tennis freak, an amateur cook who thinks love is the most important ingredient and that life is too short to cook without bacon, cream, butter, booze, or bold spices, and very much in love with his Beaver Sweetie of nearly 10 years.
