The Canadian men’s national team and the Canadian Soccer Association are locked in a compensation dispute that was years in the making, and will have implications for years to come. James Sharman, Brendan Dunlop and former Canadian internationals Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan chat with former CanMNT assistant coach Alan Errington about the players’ dispute before the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, how this one may play out, pay equity, and how to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past. Alan also gets in to some stories about that 1986 Canadian World Cup team, preparing in Mexico dealing with the Canada Soccer board of directors.
